  Adema Diop

adema diop

Adema Diop is part of a long lineage of master drummers and dancers from Senegal. The music and dance are in his blood. Since he was seven years old he danced with 'Famille Sing Sing Rhythems'. He started his djembe training when he was thirtheen years old. with his older brother Badou who was lead drummer in the National Ballet from Senegal. Adema was a dance choreographer for the 'Ballet Silimbo' at 'Ecole des Artes'. In 1990 he began teaching students from Europe, before moving to Germany in 1992. During three years he taught and performed with the group 'Gainde'.

1999 Adema left to America to teach there. In Santa Cruz he was part of the group 'Dom'U Africa'. 2002 He decided to move to San Diego. As Director of Diop Percu International School of African Music and Dance' in California he has much to offer of the rich traditions of West Africa.

Adema is still living and theaching African dance and percussion in America. Now and then he visit the Netherlands, and provide the greatest performance with the brothers Diop-Andji.
